SEC preseason picks (west)

1) LSU Tigers-They have more talent than anybody in the SEC, which means depth, which means wins. They have a big Question mark at QB, but lets be honest they won the National title with Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn. This team is still very dangerous, proven QB or not.

2) Auburn Tigers-They have a brand new offensive spread attack they will run this year, which means there will be some growing pains, but the Defense is the same ol dominant defense which will keep them in every game. This could be a dangerous team if Tubby gets the offense rolling.

3) Mississippi State Bulldogs- Sly Croom has instilled a toughness and attitude and a belief that this team can win. They are coming off their best season in many years and I see no reason for them not to improve. The Defense will once again carry this team. The offense will rely on the run game and field position. I feel like the Cotton Bowl is not out of the question.

4) Alabama Crimson Tide- Nick Saban made a big statement in the off-season when he signed the best crop of freshman in the country, which many will play. Alabama is certainly heading in the right direction. Nick Saban is a proven winner and he will have these guys ready to compete. They have the best offensive line in the SEC and if some of the talented freshman step up these guys could be the sleepers of the SEC. This will be the last time you will see Bama predicted this low for a long time so all you Bama haters enjoy because it seems Saban is building something special in Tuscaloosa.

5) Ole Miss Rebels- The Rebels have a new coach, Houston Nutt, and they actually have some talent. Jevan Sneed is a highly touted transfer from Texas at QB and if he can become a playmaker at that position Ole Miss could upset some teams. Ole Miss is not terrible they are just not that good. If they win 6 games this year I think they will have over achieved.

6) Arkansas Razorbacks- The Razorbacks lost too many players (Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis, ect.....) to be competitive this year. Bobby Petrino will be a good coach in this league if he stays more than 2 months, but it will take a few years before he can compete. The Pigs will takes some lumps on the head this year.

I like where your heads at, but I must disagree with one thing. Worst case scenario Bama will finish third, but I think they will win the west after a November trip to Baton Rouge where they will kick the shit out of Les Mile's Tigers. Don't forget that until JP Wilson made a huge mistake with less than two minutes to go, Bama controlled last years game. After the loss, they lost all the wind from their sails and ended up losing to not only MS state, but also Monroe. Let's face it, the two of those squads, talent wise, are not even in the same league as Bama. You will see a lot of young players on the field for the Tide, but they are damn good players and they are gonna surprise some people.

Don't worry big BO... The author is a State fan. And he did add we will not be this low again for a long time. Besides it WILL be a coin flip to see who goes to Atlanta and gets destroyed by the gators or dawgs. And yes Bo, we will be KICKING THE SHIT outta ALL TIGERS this year. I am more worried about State than anybody else in the West... Honestly!!!
