Showdown in Beantown!

The greatest rivalry in all of baseball and arguably all of sports will continue Friday in Boston when the Yankees come to town to take on the Red Sox. Both teams come into the series within striking distance of the surprising 1st place team formerly known as the Devil Rays but know known simply as the Rays. The Red Sox are just 1 game out of first as of today and with the Evil Empire 4 games out. The Empire is on a roll as of late reeling off 6 consecutive wins. The Sox had a rough trip out west against the Angels but have taken 2 in a row against the Mariners.

So Friday the 2 teams will square off once again. It has been a roller coaster ride this season for the Yanks but they look to have gotten things together and will once again be putting a lot of pressure on the Red Sox and it looks to be another exciting 2nd half race. The Red Sox have held things together quite nicely with the absence of Big Papi, thanks in part to J.D. Drew. But to take a line from Eminem: "Guess who's back? Back again!" Yes it is the monstrous on himself, David Ortiz. He has looked well in AAA Pawtucket and he will be back Friday night to stabilize and rejuvenate the Red Sox.

So many memories of great games between these two teams and I look forward to a great and competitive series this weekend and I would love nothing more than to put a stop to the Empire's winning streak and take the wind out of their sails! There are a few things you can count on this weekend and I will let you know what they are:

1.) Derek Jeter will do his patented gay fist pump at least 10 times.

2.) Big Papi will go Deep!

3.) GayRod will make an error.

4.) I will cuss Manny for something.

5.) The Red Sox bullpen nightmare of Delcarmen, Hansen, Timlin, Lopez and Okajima will blow a lead.

6.) The Red Sox will finish the series in 1st place!!

The rotation will be Beckett, Wakefield, Lester vs. Joba, Pettite and Ponson....

The game I am looking most forward to is Friday's series opener with Beckett facing off vs. Joba!

Anybody got room on that Sox bus for a Cubs fan. This funk we are in just feels too familiar. Maybe next year?
